BFree Foods Review

About a week ago, a 12 pound box from BFree Foods arrived at my house, and ever since my family and I have been trying a variety of tasty allergen free products! 🙂 You see, BFree Foods doesn’t just make products free from Gluten, their products are also free from: Wheat, Dairy, Eggs, Nuts and Soy. Which makes the entire line of BFree products free from major allergens, as well as vegan.

Let me start by showing you all the products the folks at BFree Foods were nice enough to send me!

IMG_6176

This included:

1 Pack of Quinoa and Chia Seed Wraps

1 Pack of Multigrain Wraps

2 Packages of Soft White Rolls

2 Packages of Brown Seeded Rolls

2 Packages of Multi Seed Bagels

2 Packages of Plain Bagels

2 Loaves of Soft White Sandwich Bread

2 Loaves of Brown Seeded Sandwich Bread

Upon suggestion of BFree Foods PR Agent, I put the products I wasn’t immediately going to try in my freezer, resulting in this:

IMG_6177

With all these yummies, I’ve spent about a week trying products, and still have yet to try the Multi Seed Bagels, Soft White Sandwich Bread, and Multigrain Wraps, so reviews for those will come later. 😉

Let’s talk about the Quinoa and Chia Seed Wraps first! This is one of the first things I tried as I was SO excited that when I took them out of the box they were soft and pliable. I decided to one out for a breakfast burrito, and here’s the result:

IMG_6178

I used eggs, cheese, bell peppers, onions, and ham as my filling, and it was super tasty with the slightly nutty flavor these wraps add. The texture is perfect. I was a touch worried that the quinoa or chia seeds would result in an odd, gritty texture, but quickly learned that didn’t cause any problems. And, you get all this great flavor with only 110 calories per wrap. 🙂 Other ways I’ve used/ plan to use these wraps: Quesadillas, Personal Pizza, Burritos, Migas, and maybe even this recipe for Italian Enchiladas.

Next up, we’ve got the plain bagels, which I’m pretty sure we’ve used solely for breakfasts. Again, texture is great. They’re soft, and lack any pesky crumbling. They’re fine plain, as well as toasted, and we’ve topped them with everything from PB&J:

IMG_6215

to Eggs, Ham, and Cheese for a Breakfast Bagel Sandwich!

IMG_6210

Next up we have: Brown Seeded Sandwich Bread! This bread is awesome, and really different from other Gluten Free breads I’ve tried. To start with, the slices are much longer and thinner, as the cut their loaves of bread lengthwise opposed to horizontally. The only flaw I’ve found is that because the slices are so long, they don’t fit in the toaster unless you cut them in half. However, if that’s the only issue it has, I’d say it’s a win. It’s really yummy, and I used it for quite a few sandwiches. Such as this PB&J:

IMG_6212

(Yes, our Christmas tree is still up. It’s just so pretty! Ha.)

Onto the rolls. . .

These may be my family’s favorite thing they sent. In fact, we ate the first few so quickly, I didn’t even get pictures of them (they’ll be in my second BFree Foods post) They’re great with soup, awesome as mini sandwiches, and would probably work really well as hamburger buns.

I believe that’s all for now! Check back soon for the second part of this post!

Thanks to BFree Foods for providing these products for me to try. As usual, in spite of the fact that I received these products for free, all opinions expressed in this post are mine and mine alone.

Have an awesome day!

Love,

Olivia

New Grains Gluten Free Bakery . . . a review!!

A few days ago I hinted at an upcoming review and guess what!? Today is the day! 🙂

Today I’ll be talking about . . . New Grains Gluten Free Bakery!

The folks at New Grains sent me three of their products to review: English Muffins, Sour Dough Bread, and a Pink Sugar Cookie:IMG_4880

We’ll start by reviewing the Pink Sugar Cookie:

IMG_4888

Besides being adorable with its pink icing and sprinkles . . . it’s also tasty. It reminds me of the soft, iced sugar cookies you can get in the bakery at the grocery store, just without the gluten! 🙂 It’s sweet without being overly sweet, and has awesome texture!

Onto our next product: Sour Dough Bread. Y’all . . . this is THE VERY BEST GLUTEN FREE BREAD I’VE HAD . . . EVER! I’ve eaten it toasted with butter and jam, I’ve had it as a sandwich,  I’ve toasted it and topped it with turkey, cheese, tomato, pasta sauce, banana peppers and basil:

IMG_4900

No matter how I’ve eaten it, it’s been great. The texture is perfect, the flavor is EXACTLY like I remember glutenous sourdough bread tasting, and as a bonus there’s tons of it in a loaf. I’ll still be eating it in October (I’m exaggerating, but there is a lot of it in a loaf.) Just in case you hadn’t caught my drift yet . . . it’s FABULOUS, the only downside is that I can’t get it whenever I want it (which may be a good thing) because their bakery is in Utah, and shipping takes . . . time, ya know!? Lol.

Last but not least . . . the English muffins! As much as I loved the bread, these may take the cake. I’ve been rationing them over the past few days so they’ll last longer, but I’m down to half a muffin, so I may need to order more. I love these for breakfast. They are the most like glutenous English muffins out of anything I’ve tried, and are so tasty that they’re delicious with just butter and a swirl of honey. I also liked them with apple butter, as you can see in the photo below.

IMG_4884

Overall, everything I tried from New Grains Gluten Free Bakery was superb, and I’m delighted that they were sweet enough to send me these delectable products my way. If y’all would like to purchase the products mentioned in this post from their online store, check out the links at the top of this post. If you want to see the other products New Grains has to offer, you can check those out on their website here.

Be sure to check out the blog tomorrow, as I’ve got more fun coming your way!

Have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Where is the Canyon Bakehouse??

What is the most complicated thing about traveling when you’re Gluten Free? Finding the Gluten Free foods you’re accustomed to at home while you’re away. Well . . . moving is a lot like that! Except, your new town may not have access to the products you want . . . AT ALL. 😦

Picture this . . . you walk into the bakery section at your local grocery store, looking for your FAVORITE Gluten Free bread. You search the shelves, look at displays, and exasparatedly exclaim, “Where is the Canyon Bakehouse??” to which a nearby employee replies, “Ma’am, we don’t stock that here.” You return home and using the Find A Store section on their website come to the shocking realization that no one within 20 miles of you sells Canyon Bakehouse. #firstworldproblems (They don’t have my FAVORITE Gluten Free bread. Wah wah. I know it’s not earth shattering)

Talk about a MAJOR letdown. Oh well . . . I  have requested Canyon Bakehouse at my local grocery store so MAYBE they’ll get some soon. Wouldn’t that be great?

In the mean time, what is y’all’s favorite Gluten Free bread? Is it Udi’s, Pure Knead, maybe even Three Bakers!? Let me know in the comments below, please!

Have a wonderful day!!

Summer = Tomatoes . . . right?

In case you’ve missed it, I have a minor obsession with fresh produce, and while it may just be me . . . nothing says summer quite like a Tomato Sandwich because sometimes the simpler the meal the better. Anyways, if you’ve never made a tomato sandwich, here’s what you do:

Take a fresh tomato, and slice it thinly:

IMG_4413

Then, sprinkle your tomato with salt and pepper.

Next, toast two slices of your favorite Gluten Free Bread (I used Canyon Bakehouse), then spread a thin layer of Miracle Whip on your bread, and layer three or four tomato slices inside. Once you cut your sandwich in half, it should look something like this:

IMG_4415

What are y’all’s favorite summer foods? Do you like tomato sandwiches, or do you prefer something different? Let me know in the comments!! 🙂

Have a Terrific Thursday y’all!

Marilyn’s Gluten Free Gourmet . . . an update!!

I wrote about Marilyn’s Gluten Free Gourmet awhile back, and showed y’all how to make their Bubble Bread! Well, the other day I made dinner rolls with their Rosemary and Sea Salt Bubble Bread Mix by following the directions on their website. (scroll down a ways) IMG_4007All you do is preheat your oven to 350Âş, grease a cookie sheet, and make your Bubble Bread Mix according to the instructions (I used Club Soda). Use an ice cream scoop to place dollops of dough on to your pan. Bake for 15 minutes. IMG_4008My ice cream scoop is a bit on the large side, so I ended up with 11 rolls opposed to the 15 mentioned in the recipe on their site!IMG_4015They ended up as very pretty dinner rolls (see above) and they were quite tasty as well!

I was quite impressed by how easy it was to use the mix for rolls, and plan on trying this again soon with another carbonated beverage and the plain bubble bread mix. If I do try it, I’ll be sure to update y’all on how it works out! 🙂

Have a wonderful day y’all!!

Rudi’s Gluten Free Bakery Cinnamon Raisin Bread

While at the GFAF Expo I got tons of coupons for different Gluten Free products. Including $1.25 off of any Rudi’s Bakery Product. Since I had heard awesome things about their Cinnamon Raisin Bread, I decided I’d try it for myself!! 🙂

I’ve tried it with a couple different toppings (peanut butter, butter, and raspberry jam) and this bread tasted yummy with all three. It’s a bit denser than what I’m used to with my “normal” but it was delicious nonetheless. I’ve toasted it each time I’ve used it because I prefer Cinnamon Raisin Toast, but with as soft as this bread is . . . I can’t imagine it wouldn’t be just as tasty straight out of the bag!

IMG_4020I think this bread is delicious, and will definitely purchase this product again. If you’re in the market for Gluten Free Cinnamon Raisin Bread, you should definitely try this one!! It’s super tasty!

Have y’all tried any Rudi’s products? If so. . . let me know what your favorite product is in the comments below!

As usual . . . this product recommendation is entirely my opinion. The product recommended within this post was purchased by me, and I’m only mentioning it on the blog because I sincerely like the product (as in may or may not have had three pieces today. . . oops!)

Have a Marvelous Monday y’all!! I’m going to go crawl back in bed to play Words With Friends as allergies and the beginnings of a sinus infection are throwing me for a loop today.

See y’all back here tomorrow!!

Cheesy Jalapeno Cornbread

Remember how I said I had too many jalapeĂąos for the Copycat Chuy’s JalapeĂąo dip? Well . . . I decided to take a couple of those extra peppers, and make Cheesy JalapeĂąo Cornbread!

IMG_3811

Would y’all like to make some too? Here’s what ya do:

  • Dice up one jalapeĂąo pepper.
  • Take the other, and cut it in half. Dice the end half, and cut the other half into rings. (Like the picture above.)
  • Mix the peppers into one box of Aldi’s LiveGfree Gluten Free Cornbread Mix.
  • Stir in 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Pour the whole mix into a pan or iron skillet.
  • Sprinkle the top with a 1/3 cup of shredded cheese.
  • Place the jalapeĂąo rings around the top. It’ll look like this: IMG_3801
  • Bake according to the directions for 20-25 minutes, or until a knife comes out clean.

Then . . . it should look like this:

IMG_3810

After it cools for five minutes, slice into squares and serve!

We paired ours with chili. See:

I hope y’all enjoyed this post. If you end up making this, let me know in the comments!

Have an awesome day!!

Marilyn’s Gluten Free Gourmet Bubble Bread Mix . . . a review!

I’m SO excited to share this product with y’all today! I met Marilyn at the GFAF Expo. What a great lady! She was super sweet, and she gave me TWO different mixes to review for y’all here on the blog. Today I’ll be reviewing the Original Bubble Bread Mix, and sometime soon I’ll be reviewing the Rosemary and Sea Salt Bubble Bread Mix for y’all as well!

The picture you see below is the completed loaf of bubble bread next to the packaging.
IMG_3667

This bread is SUPER simple to make. In fact, it would be an awesome way to introduce your little ones to gluten free baking.

It’s made using a really interesting, yet simple process. So I decided to make a quick little video showing y’all how I made mine today! 🙂

In case y’all missed any of that . . . all you have to do is:

  1. Pour your mix into a bowl.
  2. Add in an egg or your choice of egg substitute.
  3. Pour in 12 oz of a carbonated beverage of your choice. Use an entire can if you have one. The taste will change if you use a flavored beverage like root beer, gluten free beer, or fruit-flavored soda.
  4. Stir until smooth.
  5. Pour into a pan.
  6. Bake for an hour.
  7. Slather with butter or coconut oil.
  8. Allow the bread to cool, slice, and serve!

As I said in the video, I’ll be doing a review of the bread here on the blog today, so . . . let’s dive right in!

IMG_3665

Price: Though mine was free, I did investigate the price for y’all. It is $6.99 per package — which while a bit pricier than a loaf of Gluten Free Bread; it’s well worth the investment in order to have the experience of making it at least once! 🙂

Texture: Awesome! It’s moist and has a really great crust on it, with a soft interior. It’s not crumbly, and holds together impeccably well (a characteristic uncommonly found in Homemade Gluten Free Bread in my experience) which is fantastic!

Taste: The most important factor, right? Well, this Bubble Bread does not disappoint. It’s a sweeter bread and is tasty with jam, and tea more than likely. 😉 I really liked the flavor of it, and I am looking forward to seeing what else pairs well with it!

IMG_3672

Overall: I love this product. It was incredibly simple to make. It tastes fantastic, and it isn’t outrageously priced at all! Makes Marilyn’s Bubble Bread a winner in my book!

Thanks to American Gra-Frutti and Marilyn’s Gluten Free Gourmet for allowing me to review your product! It was splendid!

Have a Stupendous Saturday, y’all!

Olivia

Grown Up Grilled Cheese

You could spend the rest of your life eating gluten free white bread slathered in margarine with slices of American cheese in between. You could do that if nothing else were available . . . But that’s gross whether you can eat gluten or not, and you can do SO much better than that — like the awesome sandwich my sister came up with that I am sharing with y’all   today!

Ingredients:

Set up is simple. Butter two slices of bread,  put the cream cheese on the other sides of the bread. After that, put a thick slice of swiss on both of the cream cheese sides of the sandwich. Add a spoonful of the tomatoes in the center. Cook your grilled cheese on a stovetop in a pan on medium low heat until the cheese is melty, and the bread is golden brown. If you prefer, put it on a griddle or electric skillet at 350 degrees until golden brown. Place on a plate cut diagonally, or however you prefer your sandwiches cut . . . and enjoy!

Give this sandwich a try! I’m pretty sure you’ll like it.

What’s y’all’s favorite grilled cheese combination? Let me know in the comments!

Hope you have had a tremendous Thursday!
Love,
Olivia
