Krusteaz Gluten Free Blueberry Muffins . . . a review!

Today I’ll be reviewing the Krusteaz Gluten Free Blueberry Muffin Mix. I picked this muffin mix up at our local Big Lots for $3.80, but you can find it on Amazon too, if you want to pay almost $8 for it. 🙂

Flavor:
Fantastic. They’re sweet without being overly sweet, and they have awesome blueberry flavor. There’s no weird “Gluten Free” flavor, in fact . . . they taste just like I remember their glutinous ones tasting. Ten out of ten stars for flavor!!

Texture:
Quite fluffy. So many Gluten Free baked goods end up quite dense or dry. These muffins turned out light and airy with just the right amount of moisture. Ten out of ten stars for texture.

Quantity:
Contrary to the pictures, the mix yields twelve muffins, which is nice. We had them for breakfast three times the week I made them, and they stayed tasty over that three day period. Ten out of ten stars for that!!

Overall:
These mix makes delicious muffins, with decent prices, and an airy texture. I would totally recommend them! 😉

Have a great day y’all!!

The Tale of the UFO Flatbread.

One chilly February day in the hills of East Tennessee a girl decided to attempt making Gluten Free bread. Naturally she started it off by searching Pinterest for Easy Gluten Free Bread recipes, which resulted in finding a recipe for Gluten Free Flatbread from A Girl Defloured. She proceeded to make that recipe with Krusteaz Gluten Free All Purpose Flour. And the dough turned out exactly as it should. But, because she was out of parchment paper she used foil to line the stones on which she planned to bake the flatbread. She baked them, but the foil screwed with the flatbread texture. Which resulted in the backs of the flatbread having a shiny look to them. Hence . . . the UFO statement in the title of this post. 😉

Anyways, the flavor is alright. I wouldn’t recommend eating them on their own, but with any kinds of topping/ filling . . . they’re really quite tasty. I made Honey BBQ Chicken from Love, Pomegranate House, and used a flatbread sliced in half as a bun. See:

Y’all should try out this recipe. Just make sure to use a silpat or a piece of parchment paper instead of foil in order to not end up with UFO flatbreads.

Let me know if y’all have made anything Gluten Free that didn’t turn out as expected in the comments below!

Have a Terrific Thursday!

New Gluten Free Product Find!!

Alrighty y’all, I went to Sam’s Club today and found a new Gluten Free Product from Krusteaz (which I searched for and couldn’t find on their website), and I thought I’d share it with y’all!! It’s Krusteaz Gluten Free All Purpose Flour!!

We paid $9.98 for five pounds of it at Sam’s today, and I’m SUPER excited to try it out!!1416185328

Here are a couple of cool factoids about it:

  • It’s Certified Gluten Free.
  • It is a blend of several flours I am already familiar with and have used in the past.

AND, my personal favorite . . .

  • It is a “cup for cup” baking mix . . . which means, just in case you didn’t know . . . you can use it in ANY recipe that’s not Gluten Free to substitute for regular flour without creating Gluten Free flour blends or any craziness like that. 😀

I’m SO excited to try this over the next few days and will DEFINITELY be letting y’all know EXACTLY what I think of it!

I hope y’all have a fantastic rest of your day!

New Products from Krusteaz

Hey there! Don’t stand out there on the porch and freeze! Fall is definitely bringing a chill to the air around these parts. Y’all can come on in! 😉

“What are we chatting about today?” you ask. Well, we’re gonna discuss the new Gluten Free Krusteaz baking products! So grab your beverage of choice, and we’ll start talking about these new items  Krusteaz has recently released! 😀

Y’all got your drinks ready? Okay then, let’s look into Krusteaz’s new product line!

The product line currently has a total of four mixes, all of which are certified Gluten Free.

Double Chocolate Brownie Mix:
These are described as, “combining rich, fudge-like texture with loads of chocolate chips”
Now, I tried these at Costco when I was in Colorado, and they’re . . . just ok. Not my favorite Gluten Free brownies, but they are still yummy.

Honey Cornbread & Muffin Mix:
This sounds yummy! They describe it as being made with real honey and suggest using it in a Spicy Garden Cornbread Muffins Recipe, which I think sounds delicious.

Blueberry Muffin Mix:
I’m REALLY excited about these. I love muffins, with blueberry being one of my favorite flavors, with cranberry orange as a close second (Are ya listening, Krusteaz?)  These come with canned wild blueberries, which is a bit better than those dehydrated blueberry wannabes. . .

Buttermilk Pancake Mix:
I don’t know about y’all, but this is what I think of when it comes to Krusteaz. I grew up with pancake Saturdays, and we almost always used Krusteaz Pancake Mix which brings back fond memories. I’m hoping the Gluten Free version will elicit the same result. 🙂

I’m truly excited about this new group of products from Krusteaz, and I’m looking forward to trying the rest of them soon. I also think it’ll be interesting to see how Krusteaz expands their line within the Gluten Free community.

Now, it’s y’all’s turn to chat. Tell me which product you’re most looking forward to trying. Are you a brownie addict? A pancake fiend, or more of a cornbread and chili kind of person? Let me know in the comments below!

By the way . . . you’ll notice I’ve changed the comments section to a Disqus conversation! It’ll give us all a better way to interact. So, please try it out and let me know what you think!

Have a tremendous Thursday, y’all!
Love,
Olivia
